December 2015 - Habana
Our Trip to Habana in December 2015 was a powerful one. We stayed at Habana Ribera — in the process of a remodel as many hotels in Habana are right now. This trip was designed to help Cuban teachers meet and teach international students. The goal was to help yogis and teachers experience the unique styles and yoga history of Cuba.
Each day, two Cuban teachers led the group and set aside time to chat about their background and their perspectives on yoga. There was also an intensive in Spanish for Cuban students, teachers and the visiting group. This formed the beginning of a two-year study program for a small group of serious yoga students in both Habana and Holguin.
Visits were made to museums, ecological institutes, organic gardens and of course, music and dance places. The group had folks from all over the United States and the United Kingdom. The people in the group were touched by the Cuban people and the depth and passion of the Cubans yoga practice. They came to consider them their Cuban yoga family.

December 2014 — Holguin and Habana| Yoga, Art, Ecology
In December 2014, we took a group with Altruvistas on an educational exchange where bilingual classes with Mary and with Cuban teachers formed part of the daily itinerary. The theme was Yoga Art Ecology and in Holguin and Habana, participants met the Cuban yoga community, and enjoyed Cubans rich cultural life, listened to their interesting ecological perspectives and observed first hand alternative.
