Current Need
Yoga Va's mission is to support vibrant yoga communities in Cuba and throughout the Americas. Our particular relationship with Cuba has evolved as a powerful educational exchange and support over the last 25 years. In the past, teachers were brought to the U.S., and senior U.S. teachers went to Cuba and developed a rich yoga dialogue.
Because of the cruel policies of the previous administration and inaction of the current one, this type of exchange has been made practically impossible - we hope that this will change soon. In the meantime, we at Yoga Va are supporting Cuban teachers in the best ways we can. Paying for their Yoga Alliance renewals, helping them access internet, supporting their new teacher training program and their community classes. We are continuing this 25 year-old educational exchange through good times and bad. Click here to meet the yoga teachers of Yoga Va - La Habana and Yoga Va - Holguín.
Here is what your donation can do to support yoga in Cuba:
$1,500 will fund Yoga Alliance membership renewal fees for all the members of Yoga Va - Cuba for one year
$500 will fund one month of costs associated with running a Yoga Va yoga school in La Habana
$200 will fund one Yoga Va - Cuba Community Project for one month
$300 will pay for one month of the administrative support that we need to initiate and sustain our projects there
$300 will provide transportation to La Habana for 7 Holguín yogis to work with visiting yoga teachers from the U.S. or Latin America
$300 will buy blankets and straps for the current Teacher Training students
$1000 will buy 8 copies of yoga books in Spanish for the study group — they will need 8 copies of 10 books for the two-year program
